Dr. Jeff Jennings is a seasoned clinical psychologist with substantial experience treating individuals and couples with a wide variety of concerns. Drawing from his training and educational experiences of over 24 years, he integrates a unique blend of positive, neuro, and depth psychologies to empower individuals and couples to overcome the barriers to realizing their highest potential in life, work, and relationships. His treatment approach aims to move people beyond merely coping with adversity to thriving in the face of adversity by building research-based skills that improve well-being and happiness, increase mental resilience, regulate emotions, and create sustainable behavior change.
Dr. Jennings’ approach is guided by research in the fields of neuroscience, positive emotions, motivation, mindfulness, and goal attainment. He helps high-performers from all manner of professions and walks of life discover the root causes of what is hindering their life, career, or relational functioning. Combining insight-oriented therapy with the practicality of cognitive-behavioral interventions and life coaching, his approach to treatment is collaborative, strengths-based, and solution-focused, intending to move you beyond where your confidence has brought you, beyond limiting beliefs, beyond the pain of the past or present, and beyond the barriers to achieving happiness, health, and fulfillment.
Therapeutically, Dr. Jennings has over two decades of training and experience and has worked in a variety of clinical settings. He has treated a wide range of mental health, addiction, and couples issues. Specialties include anxiety disorders, marriage therapy/couples, maximizing productivity and performance, stress management, faith-based or spiritual concerns, addictions, and discovering meaning and purpose.

Dr. Jeff Jennings is a licensed clinical psychologist, a published, peer-reviewed author, and a life and relationship coach. With a Ph.D. in. Counseling Psychology and over 24 years of training and experience, he has dedicated his career to helping individuals and couples overcome the barriers that prevent them from achieving their full potential. Dr. Jennings earned a doctorate in Counseling Psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University and a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Richmont Graduate University. He completed his clinical internship at the University of Virginia and has worked in a variety of treatment settings with individuals, couples, and groups. Upon completing his Ph.D., he worked as a tenure-track assistant professor in the Psy.D. program at Regent University, teaching graduate courses and providing clinical supervision to doctoral students as the Assistant Director for the program’s practicum training clinic. Before returning to school to pursue his doctorate, Dr. Jennings was a Licensed Professional Counselor and lead therapist for Compass Resources, a private practice in Kennesaw, GA.
While clinically trained in psychodynamic and relational/interpersonal treatment approaches, his research and academic pursuits lie in the fields of humanistic and positive psychologies. Dr. Jennings has published his insights and research in numerous peer-reviewed psychology journals and books including Virtues and Their Vices, Activities for Teaching Positive Psychology, the Encyclopedia of Primary Prevention and Health Promotion, The Journal for Sex and Marital Therapy, the APA Handbook of Psychology, Religion, and Spirituality, and the APA Spiritually-Oriented Interventions for Counseling and Psychotherapy. His educational and life experiences have led to a deep desire to help others overcome past or present adversity and build greater mental resilience and more fulfilling lives and relationships.
As a previous assistant professor and adjunct professor, Dr. Jennings taught classes at the undergraduate and graduate level at the University of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Regent University in positive psychology, group therapy, clinical interviewing, family therapy, multicultural psychology, and the psychology of religion. Most recently, he co-taught a course for University of Virginia students on the benefits of nature for well-being and health. He is an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and skiing.
Throughout his academic career, Dr. Jennings received several notable scholarships and awards. At Virgninia Commonwealth University, he was the recipient of the Outstanding Counseling Psychology Graduate Student Award and the John P. Hill Award for Adolescent Research. He also received the the Aultman Education Award for Academic Excellence and was the Paul L. Walker Merit Scholarhip Recipient at Richmont Graduate University.
Dr. Jennings, along with his wife Jessica L. Jennings, LPC, co-founded Greatest Marriage Ever, LLC, an online marriage coaching practice. Together, they educate and empower couples to remaster their ability to deeply connect and transform their marriages or love relationships through cutting-edge neuroscience, attachment research, and positive psychology.
Dr. Jennings is a member of the American Psychological Association, and he completed his clinical training at an APA-accredited clinical site. Previous to entering private practice, he worked at the Unversity of Virginia’s Student Health clinic in the Counseling and Psychological Services Center.
